Marshmallow Brain - Redux

Today's #NoBloPoMo post (see earlier post for explanation) should have been a recap of last nights season premier of "The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills".  Two things happened to prevent this:

1.  Monday Marshmallow Brain took over and at 8pm last night, I laid on the couch and caught up on an episode of Grey's Anatomy from two weeks ago.  Once I realized what day it was, RHOBH was over and I needed to set my DVR for an episode airing again after midnight.

2.  Marshmallow Brain continued in to this morning when, in my haste to get my errands done before my 11am class, I neglected to wait before the garage door was completely open prior to backing my SUV out.

You guessed it.  I plowed right in to the garage door.  Marshmallow Brain strikes again!  Now, the good news is that I stopped right away as soon as I heard the crash so the damage was minimal.  Scraping to a decorative piece on the very top of my car, breaking off of one bolt holding the weather stripping seal to the bottom panel of the door and knocking the one side out of the track.  Easy fixes.  The bad news is that I knew immediately to stop when I heard the noise because it's the SECOND TIME I've done this in the last 9 months.  (I'm hanging my head in shame as I type this).  What the heck was I thinking???  Since the first time it happened, I have been very careful to watch out my back window to make sure the door is all the way up before I back out.  Back then, I didn't realize what the noise was and just kept going.  That resulted in the new weather stripping on the bottom panel.  I've been very fortunate both times that I did do more damage to the garage door, or my car.  And that there was no one around to see my stupidity.  This morning, I just didn't look before I moved.  Shame on me.

After figuring out how to release the garage door opener so that I could a) raise the door to get my car out and then b) lower the door so I could head to class, I called the repair man to set an appointment.  He had a hard time not laughing at me when he pulled my name up in the system and saw that they were here in March for the same thing.  I don't blame him.  After a $55 service call, my door is back in working order.  My ego, however, will probably take a little longer to put back together (especially since I'm publishing my ridiculousness for the world to read).

In the meantime, stay tuned.  I plan on getting that recap up today or tomorrow.  Pending any more marshmallow disasters.

* Thanks to A-1 Garage Door in Naperville for coming out so quickly to fix the door.  Hopefully, you won't be hearing from me again for this problem!
