Welcome back everyone! After a re-run last week because of the Memorial Day holiday, it was nice to see the fabulous ladies of Jersey back with a new episode last night. And what an episode it was!
We kick off in the Giudice house at breakfast time. Why is Teresa grilling Gia about the conversation she had with Joe at the Field Day? It's so inappropriate to keep putting her in the middle and asking her if she thinks Teresa is doing a good job and if she should be doing anything different. Teresa, if you need validation regarding your actions, please don't look to a 10 year old for it. Teresa clearly loves her children and I understand about "setting the example" thing so that Gia remembers when dealing with her sisters as they get older. She is trying to frame a life lessons for her, and I see the perspective. But I think there's a different way to go about it.

There was a lot of time in this episode focusing on Rosie and her struggles to come out to her family and embrace her life as a gay woman. The conversations between her and Kathy were moving. THIS is how siblings are supposed to be together! Rosie talked about denying her truth until she was well in to her thirties. Kathy said she should never be afraid of who she is and that her family would love her. We see Richie during his interview talk about how Rosie was afraid to come out to him because she thought he might not let her be around the kids as much. He said it had the exact opposite effect - it brought them closer together because it removed the burden that she was carrying around. During lunch in a local pizza place, Rosie took the opportunity to talk to Joseph and Victoria about when she came out. Now it's unclear whether the kids knew that she was gay or not - but they hadn't heard her talk about her struggles after her dad died and how long painful saying those words out loud for the first time. The scene was heavily edited, but her message was clear. It hasn't been an easy path for her, but she owns who God made her. Joseph asking her about "gay-dar" was hilarious, and Rosie answering with "well, I don't have antennas on my head" was the humor that we have grown to know and love from her. Bravo to Joseph and Victoria for showing such love and compassion for their aunt!
While standing in an abandoned building that he recently purchased, Joe confides to Melissa that he feels horrible about field day and what happened with Gia. He doesn't want to fight with Teresa and is actually considering therapy as a means to help. With Melissa's support, he texts Teresa a very nice message about wanting them to fix their relationship and that maybe they should see someone. Meanwhile, Teresa is sitting poolside with Kim D, drinking champagne. After reading Joe's text out loud, they discuss whether Joe is the one that really needs therapy and maybe Teresa should go with him - not for help fixing their relationship but more for "moral support". Because "nobody has her sh*t together" more than Teresa, according to Kim D. Yes, Teresa, we get that you're "old school" and you don't believe in therapy. But didn't you just get done telling Gia that you would do whatever it takes to get your relationship back on the right track with your brother?? (PS - who calls they girlfriends their "fans"?)

We see Caroline and Lauren are looking through their clothes for options. Caroline's brother Jamie and his partner Rich are getting married in Chicago (they've been together for 13 years). The dress code for the wedding is pastel garden attire and hats for the ladies. Caroline is stressed because she doesn't wear hats!! Lauren doesn't have a hat either, so she calls Jaime for advice. While on the phone with him, Jaime asks Caroline if she would do a reading or a speech during the ceremony since she is the only one of his sisters that is attending the wedding. The impression that we are left with from this conversation and Caroline's interview (that is edited-in) is that the wedding appears to have been scheduled last minute and that, despite there being 11 Laurita siblings, Caroline, their brother Chris (Jacqueline's husband) and their mother are the only family that will be in attendance. Clearly, there is more to the story than we are hearing. Jacqueline and Teresa are together when they read the invitation for the wedding on her iPad, and start to look at clothes in Teresa's closet (she was also invited). The subject of Joe Gorga's text to Teresa about going to see a therapist comes up. (Yes, she said PHYSICAL therapist! Thank you, Jacqueline, for correcting her! LOL) Teresa has convinced herself that she doesn't need therapy (but that Joe does), so she feels that Melissa should take him and be supportive of him instead of her. Jacqueline brings up a great point - if you aren't willing to do the work then therapy is pointless.

The Wakile's decided to rent a shore house this summer instead of buying one. As the family is unloading the car, here comes Rosie drove Rich's Ferrari! Kathy asked her to drive it down so he would have it there to drive around and "play" if he wanted. Clearly, Rosie had a BLAST driving it (who wouldn't?). There's a party happening at the house tonight, so three girls from the catering/bartending service show up to get things ready. Rich and Rosie standing on the deck, eyeing them was hysterical! Apparently Rosie has only brought 2 girls home - one Kathy said was ok enough and the other she "didn't like one bit. ZIP" This weekend is the same weekend as Jaime's wedding in Chicago, and by the time people start showing up it's raining like crazy. The Gorga's along with Heather and Cliff Robinson show up. Heather organizes events for celebrities and athletes and her husband, Cliff, is a former NBA player. Rosie was smitten with Heather - apparently she is EXACTLY her type. (Heather is VERY beautiful and glamorous - Rosie has good taste!) Joe and Rich talk about him reaching out to Teresa about therapy. Rich looked like he was so proud of him. I really enjoy the friendship between Rich and Joe Gorga. It's almost big brother / little brother in some ways and I think it's good for both of them. I was sad to hear that Teresa hadn't even responded to Joe's text. And he NAILED it right on the head that her reaction was that HE needed therapy, but she was just fine. As I am watching Rosie and Heather have a nice conversation - all of a sudden on the TV appears Joe Gorga, naked from the waste down (blurred out of course), changing in to his swim trunks in the street or the driveway of the shore house!!! LMFAO! Oh Joe - really??? The cocktails were flowing because before you know it, people are slurring their words just a little and jumping in to the hot tub fully clothed! Of course, as soon as the fabulous Mrs. Robinson walks outside in a very tiny bikini, Rosie almost losses her mind! Clearly, she is very attracted to Heather (which her husband doesn't seem to be protesting about). There is some flirting going on in between the two of them in the hot tub in front of everyone, and Heather was pretty aggressive with her body language (in my opinion). But it certainly looked like everyone was having a good time! Funniest moment - Joe Gorga sitting on the back of a chair so he and a 6'9" Cliff Robinson were almost eye to eye!
In Chicago, it was strange seeing everyone on a bus from the airport on the way to Jaime and Rich's house for the rehearsal dinner. Caroline and Teresa were chatting like nothing was wrong. Well, I should say Teresa was chatting with Caroline and Caroline was answering her without being openly hostile. Then you see Caroline in her interview call BS on Teresa being so nice to her and kept asking why she was there!! OMG Jaime and Rich's house in Barrington (about an hour north of Chicago) is STUNNING! The flowers everywhere are AMAZING! Jaime explains that the whole house is the "Tree of Life" concept. When you are in the basement, you are rooted (there's an actual tree inside the house). When you come up the staircase (made of trees) you are in the "life" of the tree. It's a interesting concept, and the home is very beautiful both inside and out.

The party seems to be in full swing when the Jersey crew arrives, and Jaime was still disappointed that Dina couldn't make it. Caroline saying in her interview that Teresa adds wood to her family fires - and Caroline puts the lid out on Teresa's was a very interesting perspective. Standing in Rich's art room and listening to Joe Giudice tell a story about he and his friends measuring their penis's I could have lived without though! The rehearsal starts outside and Teresa SQUEEZES herself in between Jacqueline and Greg on a porch swing to watch. AWKWARD! Jaime and Rich are getting married in their back yard, and there is a beautiful gazebo set up. Caroline rehearses where she will stand for her speech - that she hasn't written yet!!
Joe Giudice needs to keep his mouth shut more. Clearly intoxicated in the bus on the way to the hotel from Jaime and Rich's house, the things that he said were disgusting. I refuse to repeat them, because I won't be a party to spreading what I believe to be hate speech. Shame on Teresa for thinking anything that he said was funny (your laughter said it all). Just because you told him to apologize AFTER you laughed does not absolve you. Much love and kudos to Greg Bennet for taking the comments that were spewed at him and remaining full of class the entire time. Props to Caroline Manzo for keeping her mouth shut because she was afraid that anything she said would give Teresa ammunition to ruin her brother's wedding, and that was her focus. I don't condone staying silent in the presence of that kind of language, but I understand where her priorities were. And down I come off of my soap box!!
NEXT WEEK: Jaime and Rich's beautiful ceremony, and a story about Teresa in the tabloids stirs the pot big time!!!

UGH... Joe Giudice is the SCUM of all scum. I don't know what Teresa sees in that neanderthal.
ReplyDeleteI haven't seen the episode yet, but I just had to check out your review... loved it. :) Hope all is well!
As pointed out by Caroline, he may have a drinking problem. But I don't think alcohol CHANGES you in to a bigot. I think that's either your character or it's not and alcohol just frees your censorship chip from stopping the gross things that you may be thinking but shouldn't say. Thanks for the love Rick! :-)
ReplyDeleteJen I AGREE! Alcohol will remove your filter and geez - Joe Giudice is one fella who really needs that filter! Its so difficult to watch his awful behavior. I think he clearly has a drinking problem and I wouldn't be surprised at all if there weren't other addictions in play here. Its so apparent as we watch him unravel week after week - the way he addressed his wife and children, the inappropriate comments, the bad behavior, the criminal activity and reckless disregard for the law, and the drunkeness....all of this while the cameras are there - he is well aware the cameras are there - imagine what he is like when the cameras are not there?!!!!
ReplyDeleteI loved seeing the conversation with Rosie and the kids. The Wakile kids are about the same age as my kids. About a year ago I had a similar conversation with my kids about some one VERY VERY close to us - to them. My kids were as fabulous as these two. They didn't flinch or skip a beat. They were just like - oh, cool...ok. and that was it. Since then they have socialized with this person and her partner at the time - and its been great. I am proud that my children do not in any way have any sort of hesitation when it comes to accepting people for who they are - the content of their character - nothing else. <3
I love that Bravo "went there" and the more we openly discuss this and make it part of the conversation in this great country, the easier it will be for people struggling with the burden of coming out. :)
MomsThoughts - I completely agree with everything you said. I was thrilled to see Bravo address issues that are facing people about coming out. Hopefully the more openly gay people that are seen on television (real people - not just characters but those are good too), will continue to broaden the dialogue and make our society as a whole more accepting. The Wakile's should hold their heads high at what terrific kids they have - as apparently you should too!!! We ARE the role models for our children, in our actions not just directly to them but to those around them. It's why watching how the Giudice children interact with others and their parents makes me sad. It's not their fault - it's the only thing they know.
ReplyDeleteLove this recap. You are on point! I gotta say, a part of me still feels sorry for Teresa. She is so delusional. My heart goes out to her kiddies, I can't imagine how horribly this is effecting them... especially Gia!
ReplyDeleteI've been missing them lately!!! So bummed. Thanks for the recap though =)
ReplyDeleteThanks for your comments :-)
DeleteWhile I don't watch the show, I DO love Teresa ever since I saw her on The Apprentice!! Thanks for catching me up!
